South Coast Warrior Program for Veterans

Most active-duty U.S. military personnel and veterans are significantly strengthened by their service, whether in times of peace or war. However, many veterans face mental health challenges, substance abuse issues, and suicidal thoughts due to the loss of camaraderie, purpose, or the trauma experienced during their service. If this sounds like you or a loved one, the South Coast Counseling Warrior Program is designed to help.

Our program combines evidence-based treatment for veterans such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). For veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), we also deploy three of the most effective treatments: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy.

We also recognize the power of stress-reducing activities that provide calming relief. Therefore, we include Animal-Assisted Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Breathwork to aid in your peace.

If you’re a veteran seeking sobriety, relief, and recovery, our program is perfect for you. We provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can embrace treatment and distance yourself from stressors, triggers, and discomfort, while receiving outstanding care.

Tricare-Covered Veterans are Eligible to Get Treatment at South Coast Counseling if:

  1. You have Tricare (West Region); and
  2. You have more than a 30-minute average drive time for mental health treatment or a 60-minute average drive time for specialty care*; or
  3. You have more than a 20-day wait for mental health care, and non-institutional extended care services, unless the Veteran agrees to a later date in consultation with their VA health care provider. For instance, if you are a Veteran and live 10 miles from the nearest VA primary care provider, but it takes you over an hour to drive there on average due to heavy traffic, you would be eligible for community care.
